  • MIndful Mornings
Wednesdays and Fridays 7:30 to 8:30 AM with Jimena Galvez

This morning class is unfused with classical ashtanga yoga, connecting breath awareness to detailed alignment and meditation for stress reduction. We will start with mindful, dynamic movements to warm & loosen the tissues of the body. The final segment of class will focus on a restorative posture of the week to increase opening in the lower spine and hips, and invite the body-mind into a balanced state for the day ahead.

  • Fusion Flow
Saturdays 7:30 to 8:30 AM with Jimena Galvez

During this mixed levels Hatha class Jimena teaches a fusion of pranayama, gentle vinyasa and restorative yoga.  Beginning with short meditation, the class moves through a gentle flow of sun salutations, emphasizing alignment with breath work, and concluding with a portion of restorative postures to open the hips and soothe the nervous system. This class includes foundations in standing, balancing, twisting, backbends, seated, and reclining poses. It serves to awaken the body, while quieting the mind to provide some clarity and relaxation to take with you into your day.

Our Yoga Instructors:

Joseph Boquiren is a yogi, cartoonist, bike racer, and speedskater. Trained as an architect, he moved into sequential art after the building industry took a nosedive in 2008. The shift seemed like a natural move for him since both professions use words and pictures to convey ideas. He received his yoga RYT certification in 2008 from Forrest Yoga and now teaches classes four times a week. He teaches yoga not just to deepen his practice but also to harvest the inadvertent fruits of comedy that fall out of the yoga tree. His comic Samadhi Pants can be viewed on Facebook.

Jimena Galvez has been a licensed massage therapist since 2003 and a yoga student since 1998. She is the owner of Prana Llama Mindful Bodywork and completed two 200-hr Yoga teacher trainings in 2001 (twice certified: Sivananda Ashram + Mount Madonna Center).  She is currently training to earn her 500-hr teaching certification with 8 Limbs Yoga Center. Yoga led Jimena to bodywork; her massage education enhanced her yoga teaching, as she gained an improved understanding of anatomy.  Daily Yoga practice is essential in her life; she finds it enhances her ability to offer a nurturing presence to her clients and students.

Jimena believes Yoga is a life-long adventure and delights in connecting with practitioners in the classroom. She inspires students to explore their bodies with curiosity, respect, and an open quality around their anticipated notions of constraint. She enjoys applying daily life to infuse the teachings of yoga as well as Ayurveda, yoga's sister science. Jimena pursues the cross-pollination of pranayama, meditation, mindfulness and compassion in her classes. Her warmth, humor, and eagerness to cultivate a beginner's mind by observing ones self with fresh eyes, make her a wonderful teacher for all level practitioners.
